Happy New Year!

New Year’s has always been a time for looking back to the past, and more importantly, forward to the coming year. It’s a time to reflect on the changes we want (or need) to make.  We resolve to follow through on those changes.  Simple and easy – Right?  Not!

Have you made resolutions for this year?  What are they?

Here a dozen of the most common resolutions … Are yours amongst these?

  • Spend More Time with Family & Friends
  • Fit in Fitness
  • Tame the Bulge
  • Quit the Bad Habit, e.g., smoking, not drinking enough water
  • Enjoy Life More
  • Become Financially Free
  • Learn Something New
  • Help Others
  • Get Organized
  • Get a Better Job
  • Reduce Stress Overall
  • Take a Trip

At the same time we make these resolutions, we listen to many solutions of how to do it. There are many known recipes for success.  For example to attain and maintain your perfect weight we need to “eat less and move more.”  That is about as simple as can be!  Do we follow through?  Nope.

Unfortunately we often find that we do not follow through.  We find that a year later we are still not implementing the resolutions we previously made.  It sounds easy but we do not or are not able to follow through.  Why not?  Well despite the fact that it may be SIMPLE, in fact it is NOT EASY.

One of the key points made over and over in The SGR Home Study Course is that it is more important to do things in a certain way than to do certain things.

First you must think in a certain way.  In short, we are out thoughts!  If we do not think our desires, we will not achieve our desires.  Simple, but not easy! It is paramount to form a clear and definite mental picture of what we want.  “Many people fail to impress on the thinking substance their mental picture because they have themselves only a vague and misty concept of the things they want to become, to do, or to have.   You must know what you want and be definite enough to form a clear coherent sentence about what you want.  Unless you do, you will never achieve what you want with unformed longings and vague desires.”  (Chapter 8 of The SGR Home Study Course).

Second we must have discipline or will power.  We as human beings are the only creatures that have been endowed with the higher faculties of Perception, Reason, Will, Memory, Imagination, and Intuition.  No other form of life has been given these creative faculties.  Of these faculties, The SGR Home Study Course focuses only on the Will and in fact two chapters (8 & 9) are dedicated to the faculty of the Will!

The “Will” is the intellectual factor that gives one the ability to hold one image on the screen of their mind.  Using the will enables each of us to hold that vision with faith and purpose.  When we use our Will to hold an image in our consciousness, we are at that time rejecting any and all mental distractions.  The Will is for those whose wants are strong enough to overcome mental laziness and the love of ease.  The more clear our picture and the more we dwell upon it, the stronger our desire becomes.  Adversity is common and will slow us down, but it is overcome with our strong will.

There are times in my life that I have successfully made the changes I desired.  When I have succeeded the changes become second nature and now it does do not take much effort to maintain them.  In each case it required me to have the will to have the discipline to overcome the difficult times.

Where have I succeeded in having the will power to do what I wanted in my life?

  • Making and mailing my holiday cards despite lots of holiday pressures and extras in my calendar.  Making holiday cards are a tradition for me.  I have made my cards every year since 1973!
  • Studying some portion of The SGR Home Study Course every day.  I often find myself hearing or reading the content with a fresh eye based on my experiences that day!
  • Following with unwavering discipline the details of my stock and option trading.  2007 was a winning year as a result!
  • Expressing my gratitude in multiple ways, multiple times a day.

Where have I not succeeded in having the will power necessary to do in my life?

  • Sticking to an (any) exercise plan and routine. In fact I was challenged to do one, just one, jumping jack a day as I get out of bed, then build to 2 jumping jacks, etc.  I could not even do one on a regular basis!
  • Staying on top of my emails.
  • Keeping my office clean and straight.

Some people get so caught up in the knowing how to do, but do not spend effort in action.  An ounce of doing things is worth a pound of theorizing or studying.  Use your will power on yourself to achieve what you want.  Use your mind to form a clear mental image of what you want and to hold that vision with faith and purpose.  Your will power to keep your mind working the right way.

When I create or design something new for my future, I have found it is VERY important to hold a picture of what I am seeking to achieve.  Why, because I KNOW that there will be ups and downs.  Intellectually we know this, yet when the difficult periods arrive we behave as though it should not be that way and we tend to lose momentum.  Here are some tips I use for staying the course:

  • Establish a very clear mental picture of what I want.
  • Maintain that clarity of purpose by knowing the why I want to accomplish the goal or intended outcome.
  • Create an environment that consistently reminds me of my original purpose.
  • Learn to hear and manage the ‘little voice’ in my head.
  • Chart my progress and have my chart on display.
  • Using The SGR Club membership to keep me on track.

How to make this happen?

  • Make the decision to change.
  • Identify YOUR (not anyone else’s) reasons to change and write them down.
  • Focus on your future vision.
  • Dream of what you would like to achieve.
  • Transform five of those dreams into goals by giving them a deadline, a way to measure them,  and writing them down.
  • Read what you have written first thing in the morning and again at night each and every day.
  • Work with an attitude of gratitude and acknowledge what you are doing is Working.

It is simple, but it is not easy.  Use one of your faculties and develop the will to overcome the upcoming adversities and make a difference.  I have come to rely on my SGR Club membership to make this happen for me.

“Successful people keep moving.  They make mistakes, but they do not quit.”  (Conrad Hilton)

The Law of Attraction … what does that really mean?  It is one of the Natural Laws of the Universe that is getting increasing attention as the book and movie, “The Secret” is gaining popularity.

“How are you doing?” … This is a question we are asked many times every day.  Doesn’t it seem that often the person asking is not listening, nor even cares what we answer?  In fact they are usually already onto their next sentence!  As I have become to understand and appreciate the Law of Vibration, I have found that my automatic answer is increasingly, “Perfect!”  It is great fun to watch people’s reaction to a different sort of answer, especially when it is such a positive one.  I also find it puts the person I am interacting with in a great foundation for the Law of Vibration as I proceed in the conversation.

We have heard of the Law of Attraction, as well as the description of magnetism, “like attracts like.”  Taking a broader perspective the Law of Attraction is actually one form of the Law of Vibration. Everything in our Universe vibrates; nothing rests.  In fact motion is the only thing that is constant!  … In short, we are living in an ocean of motion.  As stated in Chapter 2 of The SGR Home Study Course, we are always moving towards something and it is always moving towards us – it’s a combination of action and attraction.  Perhaps that is the reason why the word “action” is embedded in the word “attraction.”

Our thoughts are vibrations that we send out to the Universe.  When we concentrate, the vibrations are even stronger.  Thought is the most potent vibration.  Whether the vibrations are good or bad depends on us.  It is totally based on our own interpretation.  In fact, we have complete free will to create what you wish.  It sounds simple, but experience demonstrates that this is not easy to implement.  It takes practice and persistence.  In fact as Bob Proctor states, “Thinking is the hardest work we do!”

Since vibration is everything, I have learned that I must take action to constantly and diligently focus on creating positive thoughts that move me forward.

What are some things I do ensure the Law of Vibration is complementing and magnifying what I am doing?

  • I write down five Successes every night as a part of my preparation to sleep ritual.  This exercise is extremely empowering and powerful since it positions you to focus on the positives of the day.  This activates your creative subconscious just as we go to sleep.  The SGR Home Study Course best describes this as the “stick man” who has two halves of the brain … the top half is the conscious and the bottom half is the unconscious.  Thoughts build ideas in the conscious mind and ideas stir emotions in the subconscious mind.  It is these emotions that move the body into action and are seen in life as our results.  Bob Proctor refers to this as the “stick man”.
  • I identify – and write down – six “Impossibles” every morning before breakfast.  These are most effective when they are something that I believe is impossible for ,e to achieve.  As with any goal the more specific you can be the more effective the exercise is.  The result of this exercise is that I will find that my mind is expanding with regards to what really is possible.  Going through the rigor of writing it down is important.  In fact, I find often I am preparing to write something like “I am going to teach 10 people”, but when I am in my “It’s Impossible” mode, I ask if I could achieve 10 if I really wanted to I tell myself, “yes” and then write down “I am going to teach 100 people.”  This mind expanding exercise is enlightening!
  • I use the times when I am in high vibration to my advantage.  Although I am still new to this “Vibration Thing,” I have found that when I am buzzing from a high energy positive experience that I use this to reach out specifically to others that are having tough times or closing something I have been working on.  It is exciting, fun … and powerful!
  • Leveraging the energy of others by arranging for all to concentrate the power of their positive vibrations at the same time.  Recently within a very supportive group of which I am a member we worked together to set strong intentions as two of our members were going through tough situations.  We set up a conference call and at that time each visualized the team member in their future positive state.  The feedback we received from them is that they felt our presence across the country!
  • Using powerful positive thinking in the form of positive affirmations, it is possible to achieve whatever we want. Professionals can use these techniques to develop personal power or gain a competitive edge. At a personal level it will transform our life, our health and renew our joy and passion for life. Imagine waking up each morning, bursting with excitement, energy and joy for the new day! Powerful affirmations that are stated in the present tense, even if we are not there yet.  Repeating them out loud and with emotion while placing your hand on your heart will enhance the power of your work.  These affirmations will help you stay focused on what is important as you go through your day.  I find that I will choose to take action that helps me advance my affirmation ultimately achieving the desired result.  Developing a positive mindset is one of the most powerful life strategies there is.

When we activate our subconscious brain, the Law of Vibration is at work.  When we program our brain to more readily perceive and recognize the resources you will need to achieve our dreams.  We activate the Law of Attraction, thereby drawing into our life the people, resources, and circumstances we will need to achieve our objectives. It builds our internal motivation to take the necessary actions!

It is important to realize that independent if we recognize this or not this … and the other natural laws of the universe … still are at work – much like the law of gravity.  Science did not always have a name for gravity, but it was always there.  I did not understand this until I began my study of the SGR home study course (available at www.RetireFree.org).  Once we understood the law of gravity, we could more easily use it to our advantage.  The Law of Vibration is and always will be.  Use it to make great things happen!  I am so happy and grateful now that I have the SGR program and I am able to passionately study this every day of my life!  I realize it is up to me to determine if we choose to learn how to use the Law of Attraction … and the Law of Vibration to our advantage.

Thanksgiving 2007

Greetings! Today I begin my Blog, known as www.SGRClubBlog.com.  As someone who continues her journey of self exploration I am pleased to be able to share with you. I recently became one of the first “Certified City Leaders” for The SGR Club in the world as a member of the inaugural class. This is a new experience and is very exciting for me.

I plan to share my observations and experiences in applying the Natural Laws of the Universe to the real world. I provide this service to you since I have met many folks who have been introduced to the book or movie, “The Secret” which presents the Law of Attraction, but do not know what are the next steps. You may be one of them. Alternatively you may be working to apply the teachings of Bob Proctor, Jack Canfield and Dr. Michael Beckwith presented in The SGR Program and accompanying SGR Club, which explores the source document from which “The Secret” was created.

It is fitting that I begin this Blog now as this is Thanksgiving Weekend 2007 in the USA. This is an American tradition that we celebrate on the fourth Thursday in November every year. We use this holiday as an opportunity to give thanks and to express our gratitude for all of the good things going on in our respective lives.

Chapter 7 of “The Science of Getting Rich” by Wallace Wattles is one of my favorites, “Gratitude.” As you become familiar with Wallace Wattles work, you learn that there is an intelligent, formless substance from which all things proceed. Once you gain the confidence to believe that this substance gives you everything you desire it is magical! Through a feeling of deep and profound gratitude, you learn to relate to the intelligent, formless substance. When good things come to us, the more good things we will receive, and the faster they come to us … as long as we are grateful for what comes our way.

A perfect example of this is my life. I have been quite successful, but I have never really been in as high a level of gratitude as I have been this past year. In general, I seek to recognize what I am grateful for that is independent of specific situations and circumstances.  This is a feeling of gratitude for life itself, for existence, for anything and everything you experience.  In short gratitude is an underlying attitude.  It appears when gratitude is broadcast all the time; the Law of Attraction is activated. With practice it becomes part of your identity.

Through practice I have learned new and different ways to express gratitude. Gratitude can be very simple and is most effective when it is expressed from the depths of the heart – a kind word goes a long way. The results have been wonderful. Some are:

  • Take a sheet of paper and place it somewhere that you will pass throughout the day and commit to writing down something for which you are grateful every time you pass the paper throughout the day.
  • Do not allow yourself to get out of bed until you identify at least five things for which you are personally grateful.
  • Whenever the mind’s voice begins to express doubts, concerns, or other negative comments, tell it “Thank You for Sharing” and then replace it with a concerted effort of listing everything you are grateful for … even if it is the beautiful blue sky.
  • As you prepare to go to sleep, document in a journal at least ten things you are grateful for that day before you fall asleep. Be disciplined and continue this practice no matter how late it is or how tired you are.
  • Periodically send a message or two (via email, voicemail, or handwritten note) of your gratitude to someone that is not expecting it.
  • As stated in the movie “The Secret,” as you walk say “Thank” with one step, accompanied by “You” with your next step. Focus and repeat this as you proceed for a fair distance.
  • Keep a “Gratitude Rock” (or some other unique and personal keepsake) that you carry with you. The Gratitude Rock serves as a reminder that we are to be thankful for what we have, who we are, and what we want. By being with us at all times, they remind us that we attract what we think about and what we thank about.
  • Take the extra effort to verbally thank someone for the service that they are providing you, especially when you can share your gratitude when others around that person are able to witness your appreciation.
  • Take a few moments to think about a living person for whom you are grateful … and why.

I invite you to share in this blog some of the unique ways you express gratitude in your daily life.

As I gain an increased understanding of just how important it is to share and show gratitude, the more I do it. This is a grand example of the snowball effect! (In the event you are not familiar with the “snowball effect”, it is a figurative term for a process that starts from an initial state of small significance and build upon itself, becoming larger and larger. The common analogy is with rolling a small ball of snow across a snow covered area, as it rolls the ball will pick up more and more snow, gaining more mass and surface area, and picking up even more snow as it rolls along.)

There is a law of gratitude, and if you are to get the results you seek, it is absolutely necessary to observe this law. It seems from my observations that those who tend to experience gratitude more frequently than others also tend to be happier, more helpful and forgiving, and less depressed than their less grateful counterparts.

I am very grateful for the movie “The Secret” and the technology that allows me to share this blog with you.

“A thankful heart is not only the greatest virtue, but the parent of all the other virtues.” Cicero

Welcome!

Welcome to my SGR Blog.  Periodically, I will be chronicling my observations and experiences as I “Live The Law” detailed in The Science of Getting Rich, by Wallace Wattles.
